Man of Distinction

PrintE-mail

Sunday afternoon again Monday’s totin’ guns

Got no job no work to do and I’m right out of funds

I tell you baby if I could I’d splash it all around

But by some strange old happenstance it’s nowhere to be found

I see you’re dressin’ smart again you’ll look a peach for sure

I ‘spose it’d make no difference if I begged on the floor

You’d still go and shake it out with your fancy friends

And back to me at 5am full of sweet amends

CH1 But don’t think I’m gonna take it all lying down

I’m a man of distinction got respect about town

And I know a fella knows a guy who knows a bloke

You know what I’m saying so it’s best you don’t provoke

Of course I’ll zip you up my dear you’re back’s so golden brown

You sure that frock’s not too risqué the neck’s a long way down

No answer comes the stern reply she’s in a scented whirl

A toss of mane a hasty kiss there goes my favourite girl

CH2 But I'm not gonna take it all lying down

I'm a man of distinction got respect about town

And the walls are all ears and the night's full of eyes

And soon I'm about to stop believin her lies

BR Why I have her my heart was not very smart of me

Afraid to ask for it back she might make me pack you see

CH3 (½)

Is that you sweetheart welcome home I hope you had a time

Seems you’ve lost an earring too well into bed you climb

Of course not I won’t hassle you I see you’re good and done

Just let me hold you from behind and watch the rising sun

CH4 But I'm not gonna take it all lying down

I'm a man of distinction got respect about town

And any minute now I’m gonna walk right out the door

But for now I think I’ll stay and listen to her snore
