April - Tamworth Library for an author's chat on the 10th. Final preparations for Claude the Belligerent. Set off for the desert country before end of the month. Recent rain should make the crossing a treat. Rough itinerary: Western NSW to Bourke, down the Louth Road to Wilcannia if passable, before making a beeline to Cameron Corner.

May - All good plans must go awry - about all I managed of the April itinerary was the Tamworth Library talk and setting off. Cut roads forced me along Southern QLD to Noccundra, then down to Tibooburra and across to Cameron's Corner. From there I crossed to the Strzelecki Track via an uncharted short cut. Got bogged and broke down and all the usual carry on, now sitting in Copley awaiting the installation of a new alternator (number 5). From here I'm back up to Lyndhurst for a quick visit with Talc Alf, before heading across to see my friends at William Creek and maybe a look at Lake Eyre from the air there - (I liked the rhyming so I dragged it out). Permit for Maralinga came through for 7-9th May but because of the layover in Copley I'll probably have to push that forward a few days.

June - Back into the desert country, probably heading NE along Great Central Road through Warburton to Uluru and on to The Alice, then up to Darwin to hit the dry season markets there for a month or so.

July - Mostly in and around Darwin, then set off for Arnhem Land towards the end of the month for an extended trip through a lot of that country - much of it pretty remote - reaching Nhulunbuy in time for the Garma festival.
